So many people are obsessed with food, fitness and things related to such among all the other things that captivate our attention and cause us to focus on the fruit which is produced by a tree whose knowledge of what is good and what is bad for us, only yields death (separation from God's Spirit of Truth about EVERYTHING).
Think of all the "experts" out there who proclaim this or that is good or bad for you. This new science is religiously adhered to by a multitude who almost open wide and swallow whole every tidbit of these precious morsels cooked up not by those who really know whereof they speak (oppositions of science-knowledge falsely so called). Here in 1 Timothy 4, these false teachers/authorities are directing others to not eat various foods which were created to be enjoyed and received with thanksgiving; for they are good (a tree of life whose fruit is knowledge from Truth/God himself) and not to be rejected. To the pure all things are pure.
And then there are all those gyms. For bodily exercise profits little. But if we were to ask any one of those who workout they, undoubtedly, would passionately disagree. There is so much attention on the body. The body is important. After all, it is the temple of the Holy Spirit. But the time and energy devoted to its health, pleasure, beautification is probably pretty close to non-stop. Of course there is a fair number of those who deny the body as well but not necessarily for godly reasons - again an obsesssion with the body as if it is the number one thing. Question: What really is the number #1 thing for us (mankind)?
